Don't Pass Line

This bet is also known as betting against the dice and is the opposite of the pass line bet. To make a don't pass bet you only need to place your wager in the area labeled clearly with the words 'don't pass'. If in the come out roll the shooter rolls a 7 or 11, the player betting the don't pass line lose and the shooter and all the other players betting the pass line win.

If the shooter will roll a 2 or 3 the player betting the don't pass line wins. If the shooter rolls a 12 its a standoff, a tie where no one wins or loses. If the shooter rolls one of the box points ( 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) the don't pass bettors win if a 7 is hit before the point and lose if the point is hit.

Because there are quite good odds for a 7 to come before a 10, the casino has to change the rules of craps in effect and hedge its bet by altering the odds. House edge on these bets is 1.40%. A don't pass bet can be taken down, but not increased, after the come-out roll.

As you can see, the player betting the don't pass line will win when everyone else lose and it's never really appreciated, so you may want to think about it when you choose this bet. The superstitious folk will glower at you, and accuse you if the table runs cold.

Playing online craps however annuls this restriction on the don't pass bet, as there is no real shooter or set of people playing with the dice to upset. At the casino though good vibes are as important as anything else at the craps table, so I don't recommend putting out any bad vibes by playing against the dice.
