Craps Bets - Best Bets In Craps
This game may let you feel intimidated because the table looks complicated, with a lot of bets and miniature bets with a lot of squares and circles and numbers, written on the felt table.
Well, at least 90% of those bets are pure junk and you shouldn't bother with them at all. The first and most important thing to understand is that you actually need only one half of that big table, so you should not let yourself intimidated by it. Because of this fact our example graphic is just half of the board as well.
The Pass line<
The pass line is a long line that runs along the outer edge of the craps table in front of the players. From here players can place chips for a pass line bet. A bet known as the put bet is also made on the pass line after the come-out roll.
The Don't Pass bar
The thinner band above the pass line and parallel to it (broken at the corner by the big 6 / big 8 area) is the place where you can place your dont pass bets. This is the opposite bet of the pass line bet.
The Big 6 / Big 8
The area between the two sides of the dont pass bar and above the corner of the pass line bar is where the player can place his 6 and 8 bets. Is a bet similar to a place bet, but this bet should be avoided because of its poorer results.
The Field
The field bet is a popular bet and it can be placed in the box with the word 'field' and a bunch of numbers written in it, in front of the dont pass line. When a player bets on the field it means he bets that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12
The Come bet
This area is located in front of the field box and its labeled Come on the felt. The come bet is essentially the same as the pass line bet, but can be made after a come-out roll has already established a point.
The Don't Come bet
The oppose of the come bet is the don't come bet and you can place this bet in the small box next to the box number 4 in the Place number location.
The Place Bet - Buy and Lay bets
This is an area with large numbers in individual boxes ( 4,5,6,8,9,10 ) along the inside edge of the table and is located in the dealer's side of the table; buy and lay bets are made the same way as a place bet, but offer different odds.
The Hardway bets
The individual numbers 4,10,6 and 8 are on the very middle of the craps table, making you think they're a really complicated bet. They are a really bad bet.
Other Center Proposition bets
In the center of the craps table are a slew of alternate proposition bets including things like 'any craps', 'twelve or two', 'horn bet', 'C & E', or the 'hop' bet. All of these bets, while they are explained on their own page, are absolutely horrific from the player's perspective, so reading about them now should be all the attention you ever pay them.
