Craps is a popular casino game and is been considered by a lot of people to be one of the most rousing games om online casino and land based casinos alike. You play casino craps with two dice, so the possible numbers rolled are 2 through 12. The craps table has many types of bets laid out, so the table looks a bit confusing at first. The ends of the table are exact mirrors of each other and the reason for this is merely to allow more players at the table.
Each craps table has 4 casino employees to serve it, and they are: the boxman, two dealers and the stickman. Boxman’s role is to watch the proceedings and he may intervene in any conflict to solve any kind of problems. The dealers are the ones who handle all cash proceedings, collecting bet money, changing cash for chips and put them in required places and making payments for winning players. The stickman is the person who handles the dice and the game play. He is the one who announces whose turn it is at the dice, the result of the rolled dice and the winning bets.
Craps lingo is a vivid one, and I will only try to get you into the basics of craps. The shooter is the player tossing the dice. The stickman offers for each shooter in turn five die from which the shooter must pick two. Craps game rules follow like this: when the shooter starts the first roll, it is called the ‘come out’ session. In the come out session the score that wins will be determined and then the shooter will continue to toss the dice until he hits 7 or 11, in other words until the shooter ‘craps out’.
Now, let’s clarify a bit more and discuss more about the ‘establish a point’ concept. Rolling out one of the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 will result in a winning score. Therefore, rolling out any of these numbers in the come out roll means that you ‘establish a point’.
If the shooter hits a 7 before rolling any of the numbers mentioned above, he will need to hand over the dice to the next player. If the above numbers are hit, the player is allowed to continue rolling the dice, having a new chance for a come out roll and can restart the entire procedure.
When you play casino craps the rules are easy but what makes casino craps look so complicated for most players, are all those craps betting options and different moves that come into play. As learning craps betting rules can be quite a tricky issue, it is best to start by explaining to you the simpler bets and moves. After you learn to play craps making these simple bets we will gradually move on to a few more. So, here are some explanations for the first four simple bets with which you can practice craps.
- The Pass Line Bet.
Making this bet you win if the player tossing the dice rolls a 7 or 11. You lose this bet if the shooter will throw a 2, 3 or 12. When you root for the shooter you win if the winning point is rolled before a 7. This is a bet that is made while the come out roll is played. True craps odds for the ‘Pass line’ bet are of 251 to 244 with a pay-off of 1 to 1. The house edge for this bet is at 1,414%.
- The Don’t Pass Bet.
This is like the pass line bet but reversed. Making this bet you win if the player tossing the dice rolls a 2 or 3. You lose this bet if the shooter will throw a 7 or 11. Also, if the shooter rolls a 7 before the winning point you win, else you lose. This is a bet that is made while the come out roll is played. True craps betting odds for the ‘Don’t pass line’ bet are of 976 to 949 with a pay-off of 1 to 1. The house edge for this bet is at 1,402 %.
- Come Bet And Don’t Come Bet.
The come bet and don’t come bet are very much alike to the pass bet and don’t pass bet of casino craps. The only distinction is that you start the craps betting process not before the determination of the score on the ‘Pass line’ (or ‘Don’t Pass line’ in case of don’t come) but only after that.
- Odds Bet.
This is a bet that doesn’t have a special slot because places you in an advantageous place and not the house, offering you increased craps betting odds for winning. The odds bet can be made only after the winning score has been determined.
I will continue on into the more complex bets ...
