A Craps Lesson

Apr 24th 2007
Even if it seems difficult at first, craps is really easy to play once you understand the rules, the odds and the table. This page is to get you started in the game of craps as it contains just some slight introduction. After you have read this page and understood the basics of the game then you should move on to the "get started" pages.

With these instructions you will be ready to play both the online and real versions of the craps. The physically work, the etiquette that is required at the land-based table and the superstitions make the difference between the two types of craps. Observe the game before you play as it is a good thing. By observing you will understand the game better.

The diversity of bets at a craps table is what makes this game so unique. There is a person who throws the dice and that person is called a shooter. The bets are made previous the throw and can be made on different things like: the total number resulted from the dice, or if a number will come before another one. There another bets like if a six will be rolled as two threes or as a four and two, or as a five and one and so on.

Even if it may seem intimidating at first the game is not difficult at all and we'll start slowly enough so you can understand.

The craps game rules always follow one of two states. The states depend if the 'point number' has been set or not set. The roll of the dice will be called a come out roll if the paint hasn't been set yet. You can observe on the table in what state the game is because of an indicator that is on the table.

The indicator is called a puck because it resembles to a hockey one. On one side it has the letters ON and on the other side the letters OFF. The puck will be positioned on the number that is set to and with the ON face up when the point is set. The numbers that are used for different bets and are indicated by the point number are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. The puck will be of the table with the OFF side up when the point isn't set yet.

Keep on exploring the site if you wish to learn the finer points regarding the game.
